Statement of Faith

 

At Salt & Purpose Studios, our faith is rooted in the love of God and the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

We believe faith is more than a statement of what we believe. It is reflected in how we live, how we work, how we serve and, above all, how we treat one another.

 

We Believe in God

 

We believe in one God — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — Creator of all things and the source of love, truth, grace and life.

We believe that God created humanity in His image and that every person has inherent worth and dignity.

 

We Believe in Jesus Christ

 

We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came into the world to reveal God's love, reconcile humanity to God and show us how we are called to live.

We believe in His life, death and resurrection, and that through Him we are offered forgiveness, grace, redemption and eternal life.

We also believe His teachings matter.

Jesus taught us to love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves. He taught us to care for the poor, welcome the stranger, forgive one another, show mercy, seek justice, serve rather than seek to be served, and extend compassion to those whom others might reject.

He warned against hypocrisy, pride and self-righteous judgment. He called us to look first at our own hearts before condemning someone else.

We believe Christians should take those teachings seriously.

 

We Believe in Grace

 

We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace, made possible through Jesus Christ.

None of us earns God's love through perfection. None of us has lived without failure, sin or regret. We are all in need of grace.

Because we have received grace, we believe we are called to extend grace to others.

 

We Believe in the Bible

 

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and that Scripture leads us toward a deeper understanding of God, His relationship with humanity and His purposes for our lives.

We believe Scripture should be approached prayerfully, humbly and with a desire not merely to know God's Word, but to live it.

 

We Believe in Loving Our Neighbor

 

Jesus was asked which commandment was greatest. His answer was remarkably simple: love God, and love your neighbor as yourself.

We believe our neighbor includes people who look like us and people who do not. People who believe as we do and people who do not. People we understand and people we struggle to understand.

Christian love does not require us to agree on everything. It does require us to recognize the God-given dignity of the person standing in front of us.

We believe kindness, compassion, humility, patience, forgiveness and mercy are not signs of weak faith. They are fruits of a life being shaped by Christ.

 

We Believe in the Church

 

We believe the Church is the body of Christ — a community called to worship God, proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, care for one another and serve the world.

We recognize that Christians belong to many traditions and denominations and sometimes reach different conclusions on matters of theology, worship and practice.

We do not believe those differences give us permission to treat one another with contempt.

Where Christians disagree, we believe we are still called to speak with truth, humility and love.

 

We Believe Faith Should Produce Good Fruit

 

Jesus taught that a tree is known by its fruit.

We believe faith should be visible not simply in what we profess, but in what our lives produce: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Our faith should make us more compassionate, not more cruel. More humble, not more self-righteous. More willing to serve, not more eager to condemn.

We will not always get that right. When we don't, grace calls us to acknowledge it, make amends and try again.

 

Our Purpose

 

Salt & Purpose exists because we believe our work can be an act of service.

We want to use the gifts God has given us to help churches, ministries, nonprofits, businesses and individuals doing meaningful work communicate their purpose and serve their communities well.

We don't expect every person we work with to believe exactly as we do.

We do believe every person we encounter should be treated with dignity, honesty, kindness and respect.

Ultimately, our faith comes back to the words of Jesus:

**Love God. Love your neighbor.**

We think a great deal of the Christian life begins there.
