Denomination: Catholic → Roman CatholicEl Santuario de Chimayó is among the favorite pilgrimage destinations in the United States. Increasing numbers of youth, young adult, parish and school groups include the Shrine of Chimayó as part of their educational and spiritual experiences.
El Santuario de Chimayó invites visitors to “walk in the footsteps of Jesus.” The recently installed Stations of the Cross — fourteen relief carvings in stone — offer a meaningful form of meditation on the Passion of Christ. Whether visiting on Good Friday or during the Lenten season, pilgrims are welcome to walk the Via Crucis and pray at each station. Prayer cards are available to guide reflection along the way.
